Becoming a CitizenHow to support The Town |
|
CitizensCitizens are members of the community who have chosen actively to support The Town and its development. As a Citizen, you have the right to sit on a jury in the Moot Hall, and to open a commercial stall in the Marketplace. TaxesThe easiest way to become a Citizen is to pay voluntary taxes. Taxes go towards paying for the maintenance of the webspace we use: server hosting and space, software costs, domain renewals, etc, and towards the development of future services we might offer. Unlike most towns, taxes are entirely voluntary and no-one is required to pay for access to The Town. However, if you'd like to support us, the tax level is currently set at US $20 per year. Of course, you can pay supplementary taxes if you want to, and we'll be very grateful for your support. To pay taxes securely via PayPal, click the link below. PayPal is free to join and securely processes payments from credit and charge cards, bank debit cards, and bank accounts in five currencies: US and Canadian dollars, Euros, Pounds Sterling, and Yen. Accounts are available in 44 countries around the world. For more information on PayPal, click here. We accept taxes via annual subscription that you can cancel any time by logging onto your PayPal account, or through one-time donations of any amount any time.
We are also looking at the options for accepting taxes via other methods, but the international nature of The Town's population makes this problematical outside of secure online methods. If you have any ideas of how an alternative payment method might be established, please let the Pantheon know! Service in lieuOccasionally, a member of the community may provide a valuable service to The Town, either by Hosting a conference, acting as a voluntary marketer or webmaster, playing a key role in community development, etc. In this case, the Pantheon may decide to discuss with the Town Council the option to offer that individual Citizen benefits as a thank-you for their contribution of time and effort. If you think you could perform such a role for the community and would like to become a Citizen this way, please click here to e-mail the Pantheon describing the service you'd like to provide. The Pantheon will be happy to consider your ideas and put them to the Town Council. We will, of course, let you know our decision.
